Yoga is for every body.

Iyengar Certification: Level 1 (Learn more)

I began studying Iyengar yoga in 2006 and have been teaching since 2019. From the beginning my teachers have been Dmitri Shapira (my mentor), Wendy Barranello, and Richard Jonas (in memoriam). My current teachers include Bobby Clennell, Brooke Myers and Lucienne Vidah. In September 2021, I received my Level 1 certification from the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States (IYNAUS).

Iyengar yoga was recommended to me many years ago to combat tightness in my limbs from running and continuing challenges of sciatica. Through the years, yoga has given me so much more than just physical benefits; it has helped me deal with anxiety, depression, and insomnia. Now I would like to share yoga’s gifts with you.

There is no perfect body type for yoga; no matter your age, weight or flexibility, everyone can stand up, stretch their arms and legs, and lift their chest and their spirits.

I am grateful to the faculty of the Teacher Training program of the Iyengar Association of Greater New York, including James Murphy, Tori Milner, Matt Dreyfus and Naghmeh Ahi.

Testimonials from my students

David is an excellent teacher.  His explanations of the poses are clear and helpful, and he has guided me in making adjustments for some physical limitations I need to accommodate.  Ever the patient instructor, David is very welcoming and sincere about helping everyone improve their practice. I enthusiastically recommend David's classes!  – Nicholas S., New York, NY

I've been practicing yoga for almost 20 years. David's cues and directions are the clearest I've ever experienced, and I've gotten deeper into poses with his instruction than elsewhere. And he manages to do it through Zoom! He is the best!  - Joanie B., Maplewood, NJ

Yoga class with David is itself a calming experience; his friendly demeanor makes everyone in the class at ease - even through a videoconference. I especially enjoy the way David designs the class, from a short warm-up, to more active poses, and ending with a series of cool-down poses. It's fantastic! – George L., Hong Kong

David's carefulness and attentiveness are unprecedented in my years of yoga - and I've had some great teachers. My shoulder stands have advanced by leaps and bounds under his tutelage, and I'm standing more confidently (and safely) on my head every day. – Jacques S., New York, NY

David is a very encouraging teacher who is able to teach both advanced and less advanced/beginning yoga students in the same class. There is always a nice balance of more and less difficult asanas, and David’s classes always end on a note of comfort and ease.  I would definitely recommend his classes, without reservation, to anyone interested in the Iyengar mode of hatha yoga– Scott B., New York, NY

As I get older, I realize the importance of maintaining strength, balance and flexibility.  David's class helps with all of this, and more.  David pays attention to each student's individual needs and makes sure we are all getting the most out of each class. – Regina R., Reston, VA
